Texas Men's Soccer is a club with a strong Winning Tradition thanks to the commitment of players and coaches. Men's Soccer at The University of Texas is not an NCAA varsity program. As such, the Men’s Club team is the highest outlet for competitive soccer at UT.

Because of the amount of students that attend The University of Texas at Austin, Texas Men's Soccer fields a 1st Team and a Reserves team each year.  Players shift between the teams based on performances, fitness, injuries, and playing time with the goal of developing a deep, highly competitive pool of players competing for 1st Team selection.  Both squads train together and thus maintain a strong talent base with the goal of contending for a National Championship every season.

The regular season takes place in Fall (late August/early September) and may extend well into November, depending on postseason performance. Spring semesters hold no official play but present opportunities for Open Training Sessions as well as friendly matches and the chance to participate in some regional friendly tournaments.

Despite its competitive nature, the team is an outlet for students to engage in physical activity outside of class and continue playing through their college years. It has always been a club policy that class and University commitments come first. Club members soon develop strong time management skills in order to adequately balance soccer and school.

Preseason Training Camp

Texas Men's Soccer holds a Preseason Training Camp at the end of summer break, a week or two before classes officially start. Both prospective and returning players go through a rigorous conditioning program in the form of two-a-day training sessions.

The 2018 Fall Pre-season schedule can be found here.

The goal of the Training Camp is for players to be in prime condition for official tryouts and ready themselves for Fall season play. This is an opportunity for incoming players to become familiar with our Coaching Staff and returning players before official tryouts are held. It is strongly recommended that players interested in joining the team attend the Preseason Training Camp.

We have put together some resources to help you train individually over the summer months:

If you are interested in participating in the Training Camp, please fill out our Contact Form and let us know you plan on attending in the 'Additional Comments or Questions' section.

All players must pay a non-refundable $20 fee on the first day of pre-season camp, which will be credited toward Club dues in the event that you secure a spot on the final roster.

Official Tryouts

A two day official try-out is held during the first week of class and is open to all UT students. Tryouts consist on both physical conditioning, technical and tactical skills, as well as performance during real game situations.

Because of the large number of players that attend tryouts, it is recommended that players first attend the Preseason Training Camp and/or Open Practice Sessions during the Spring semester.

Dates for the official tryouts will be posted on our Home Page and the Schedule Page.

Spring Open Training Sessions

The team holds open training sessions every Spring semester (starting in early February) for any players interested in practicing with the Texas Men's Soccer Club. Any and all University Students are welcome to attend Whitaker Fields (51st and Guadalupe) to practice with the Club. Those who are interested in forming part of the squad are strongly encouraged to attend, but attendance does not guarantee a spot on the team.
